Heroes of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971 (Gallantry Award)

The Heroes of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971 dashboard is a comprehensive, interactive database honoring the 676 gallantry award recipients who secured our independence. This searchable archive documents the bravery of the seven Bir Sreshtho martyrs, as well as Bir Uttom, Bir Bikrom, and Bir Protik awardees from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and civilian forces (Ganabahini).

Our Mission: Digitalizing the History of 1971

We built this platform because most official records of our war heroes currently exist only in static PDF files or printed gazettes. These formats make it difficult for the public to search for a specific name, filter by military branch, or analyze the scale of awards across different sectors. We have transformed those fragmented records into this digital tool to ensure that the legacy of our freedom fighters is searchable, readable, and accessible for the next generation of Bangladeshis.

What you can do with this tool:

  • Search Instantly: Find any hero by name, rank, or ID in seconds, replacing the need to scroll through hundreds of pages of PDF documents.

  • Filter by Force: Explore the specific contributions of the Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, and civilian forces (Ganabahini).

  • Discover Award Categories: We have categorized all recipients into the four levels of gallantry: Bir Sreshtho (7), Bir Uttom (68), Bir Bikrom (175), and Bir Protik (426).

  • Interactive Insights: Visualize how these awards were distributed across different sectors to better understand the landscape of the war.

We are committed to preserving the legacy of these national heroes by making historical data searchable, readable, and enduring.
